10 Questions with Sune Rose Wagner

This weeks "10 Questions" is with Sune Rose Wagner of the Danish rock group The Raveonettes. The duo consists of Sune and the beautiful Sharin Foo. I first fell in love with their 1950s/dark surf sound when I received a promo copy in 2002 of their first album Whip It On from a music store I worked at. I couldn't wait for their follow up album Chain Gang of Love and was shocked at how Pretty In Black, their latest album, not only amazed me but was with out a doubt one of the best albums of the year.

10 Questions for Sune Rose Wagner:

1. I loved the video for Love In A Trashcan, who's idea was that?

Thank you. The idea was mine but it was very far from my initial idea for the song which was a take on Ed Wood Jr and me wearing a pink sweater and being a cross dresser. The record label wouldn't allow it...

2. The Smiths or solo-Morrissey?

The Smiths.

3. Why did you record Whip It On in B-flat minor?

Because Shostakovich's symphony no 13 was in B flat minor.

4. What is your favorite Art Movement?

Pop and Dada.

5. I attended the remarkably small school Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM. A year after I left my friend told me you played a show there, why did you play in such an obscure town?

We were on a disastrous MTV college tour which was absolutely horrible and we learned a very valuable lesson : Don't work for the man!

6. Have you ever recorded a song and later said, “wow, that‘s a lot of reverb”?

Not yet.

7. Who designs your album covers?

We do.

8. What band would you love to tour with?

Primal Scream, The Cramps, Sonic Youth and Oasis.

9. The Raveonettes are finally coming back to Denver, have you been to the new Art Museum?

No.

10. Do you wear your sunglasses at night?

No.
